SOMETIMES MOTHER NATURE HAS A DIFFERENT PLAN IN STORE.

There are currently no outage updates.

How You're Updated

In the case of a large outage situation and/or severe weather, PCEA will update members with the best available information.

Check this page for updates or check our Facebook page and Twitter feed. Because our Facebook and Twitter pages are not tied to our outage reporting system and are not monitored 24/7, please report all outages by calling us at 1-800-619-1040.

Please note that our email and social media channels are not monitored 24/7. While even one of our members without power is a problem we take very seriously, in most cases we try to post only information about outages that last longer than an hour and affect a large number of members. During most minor power outages, the overwhelming majority of our members still have power.

IA Co-ops Outage Map

When bad weather hits, visit the Outage Map to check on the status of electric cooperative outages throughout Iowa. PCEA submits outage updates to this map every few hours during major outage events.

Before You Report an Outage

Sometimes a power outage in your home is not a co-op power outage, but instead an issue on your side of the meter. If PCEA responds to an outage report that was an issue within your home, you may be charged a trip charge. To deter a trip charge, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that your entire house is out. You may have just blown a fuse or tripped a breaker.
  2. Check your meter and your main disconnect, which is located near your meter. Take a look at your meter to help determine if the outage is PCEA’s problem or a problem within your home. A meter with a digital display will have a blank screen which indicates that the problem is on the co-op’s side. When you see something displayed on the screen, this means that power is getting to the meter and it is not a co-op outage; it is an outage within your home. If you report an outage and we visit your home, and the problem is not on the co-op's side, you will be charged a trip charge.
  3. If you believe the problem is on the co-op side, call the Cooperative to report the outage at 1-800-619-1040. Please do not email us or send us any outage reports via social media, as these channels are not monitored 24/7.
