Demonstrating its commitment to the cooperative principle of "Concern for Community," Pella Cooperative Electric continues to invest in the future by supporting local youth through education. Each year, the cooperative awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors across its service territory, reinforcing its dedication to empowering the next generation.
"We believe in investing in future leaders in our communities, which is why we award up to $11,000 in scholarships every year to graduating seniors," said Doug Stewart, CEO of Pella Cooperative Electric. "We want to thank all the seniors who applied to our scholarship program and congratulate the class of 2025."
2025 Scholarship Recipients

Ellie Schmitz – Representing the Pella Community School District, Ellie will attend Benedictine College to pursue a degree in architecture.

Jocelyn Veenstra – From the Pella Christian School District, Jocelyn plans to study occupational therapy at Indian Hills Community College.

Taylor Smith – Awarded the scholarship for the Grinnell Community School District, Taylor will major in health and exercise science at Simpson College.

Abby Hol – A homeschooled student within the service area, Abby is set to study pre-veterinary medicine at Central College.

Ami Mockenhaupt – Representing the Twin Cedars School District, Ami will pursue a degree in agriculture education at Northwest Missouri State University.

Colton Metcalf – From the Pleasantville High School District, Colton plans to enroll in the lineman program at Northwest Iowa Community College.
These scholarships are part of Pella Cooperative Electric's broader initiative to support students in the following school districts: Grinnell, Knoxville, Lynnville-Sully, Newton, North Mahaska, PCM, Pella Christian, Pella High, Pleasantville, Twin Cedars, and homeschooled students within these areas.
